在追求“一夜成名”的激烈演艺圈中，对于34岁的金池来说，她凭借《中国好声音》节目中的《夜夜夜夜》获得全国关注，并因此走红歌坛，这几乎是个奇迹。1996年，金池从福建福安师范学校毕业后，她曾在家乡的一所农村小学任教，但由于内心无法割舍对音乐的热爱，1999年她毅然辞职来到广州发展。在这里，金池展现了她的音乐天赋，并录制了十首原创歌曲，还将推出自己的第一张个人专辑《占领》。

不仅如此，在车祸中金池失去了原来的声音，还因为专辑没有出成，她欠下了30多万元的外债。为了帮女儿还债，父母只得把老房子抵押出去，一家人整天在债主催讨声中度日。面对这样的困境，金池意识到了自己身上的重担。她选择放弃参与国际比赛，以先还清所欠债务为优先。

此时的金杯什么都不会，只能唱歌，为生活所迫，有时候一个晚上要跑四五个场直唱到嗓子彻底嘶哑。白天发不出声音，就去医院针灸晚上继续跑场。虽然身处酒吧，但仍未忘记自己的音乐梦。一边工作一边看回忆视频，一边为这个梦想渐行渐远而伤心落泪。

这一切，都被父亲的话题醒来：“孩子，我不懂什么大道理，但我告诉你一个生活经验。那里的松树长在地势较高的地方，因为温度低生长速度很慢。但是，这种松树一旦成材了韧性非常好经久耐用人们在建房的时候都会用它做大梁。”明白了这个道理后，从此 金杯暗下决心：磨砺自己的人生，为梦想积蓄力量。

有了目标， 金杯暗暗开始改变但她对自己的要求跟以前不同。在酒吧唱歌很多歌手会为了迎合听众而磨损自己的特质，而 金杯时刻提醒自己：不要养成坏习惯。她把每次跑场都当作正式比赛来对待，从声音、姿势、台风都严格要求自己。

经过8年的艰辛岁月，那些历练让她的生命得到了加深，那些累积的人生沉淀造就了一种粗犷沙哑却又清晰深沉独特的声音正因如此，当节目组发现并联系上了她，使得她迎来了人生的又一个转折点，从而一举成名。
